There neither doubt nor exaggeration when expressed that IPL-2009 was yet another success for Indian Cricket. Cricket fans world over, to whom this success must be credited for, tuned into telly to get the best out of best short form of cricket. Absolutely elated seeing my team Bangalore Royal Challengers reaching Final after series of flop shows in the initial run of matches, credit to former Indian captain Jumbo for his experience, leadership, composure, calmness and leading by example; of course thanks to former England and Royal challengers captain KP for returning home after series of failure, a real boon in disguise :-). Not for long my sense of pride lasted when Deccan Chargers took driving seat in the final to carve their name on the cup as winners. Point is, IPL has created a euphoria across the world and there is no arguments against its success in pulling fans all over world into its magical hub.
And then came the shock, Indian team was sent packing after unbelievably bad display of cricket in 20-20 world cup 2009 in England. Players looked like tired, trying to get into grip of the matches, trying to find the lost-for-ever form and more importantly no team effort or charged emotions on the field; absolutely unacceptable for Indian cricket fans. After all, Indian captain, wonder boy Dhoni proved not that charismatic captain rather was enjoying the joy ride of success shown by team mates in top form ;-) …… well, guess, it is not difficult to be a great captain when you have lots of option in batting, bowling and fielding when whole team was in great form, innit?. Australian captain Steve Waugh and and initial stages of Ricky Ponting rings lot of bells :-D.
Unless BCCI make sure, players have right amount of cricket and at the same time IPL organisers make sure there is no high pressured matches before the huge events like world cup; there is no light at the end of tunnel for Indian cricket fans. There is always next world cup though ;-)
